DJ Wilkinson has just completed a complicated groundworks project in Birmingham. The ongoing project is for a new modular school building, which is being constructed by a specialist company. DJ Wilkinson was asked to complete the unusual groundworks for the project within a very tight deadline.
The foundations for the new modular building were constructed using both innovative methods and standard techniques to provide a new retaining and supporting wall for the new structure.
After installing a complicated steel reinforcement design, the wall was constructed using a Stepoc block system. Once the Stepoc wall is constructed the hollow blocks are mass-filled with structural concrete to provide a retaining wall system.
Once the wall has been mass-filled with concrete the supporting plinths can be constructed and remaining works completed.
The retaining wall and associated site drainage was completed on schedule for the second phase of the modular building construction.
